Delete your spareachair account
You can delete your spareachair account and your personal data at any time. This page applies to the spareachair app for iPhone and Android, published by spareachair.
Delete your account in the app
It takes a minute and can’t be undone:
- Open the spareachair app and sign in.
- Tap the Profile tab.
- Tap Privacy & data, then Delete my account.
- Read what we delete and what we have to keep, then tap Continue.
- Type DELETE, enter your password and tap Delete my account permanently.
Your account is deleted straight away and you’re signed out on every device. You can sign up again later with the same email address.
Want a copy of your data first? In the app, go to Profile → Privacy & data → Download my data before you delete your account.
Can’t use the app?
If you’ve uninstalled the app, lost your phone or can’t sign in, email us from the email address of your spareachair account with the subject “Delete my account”. We may ask you to confirm that the account is yours. We delete it and confirm by email within one month at the latest, as the GDPR requires.
What we delete
- Your account: email address, password and sign-in sessions on every device.
- Your profile: display name, avatar, bio, occupation, age band and your answers to the perspective questions.
- Your Evenings: seat reservations, the tables you sat at and your “keep in touch” choices.
- Your Connections, with the direct messages in them (for both people), and your call history.
- Your table messages, the people you blocked, your notification settings and your devices for push notifications.
- Your identity verification result and attempts, and your agreements to our terms. We also ask our verification provider, Didit, to erase its copy of your ID document and selfie.
What we have to keep, and for how long
Only what the law or other people’s safety requires, without your name or email address:
- If your account was permanently banned: a coded record (keyed hash) of your identity, so the ban still applies, for as long as the ban applies.
- Reports you made or that were made about you, with the messages copied into them: until 1 year after the report is closed.
- Moderation decisions about you, with their statements of reasons and appeals: 1 year after your account is deleted.
- The log of what our moderators did, with the reference to your account removed.
- Server logs: up to 14 days.
Delete only some of your data
You don’t have to delete everything. In the app you can edit your profile, unblock people and turn notifications off. To remove a Connection, open the Connections tab, open the conversation, tap ⋯ and choose Remove connection: the Connection and its messages are deleted 30 days later. Table and direct messages are deleted automatically after 30 days anyway. For anything else, email us and tell us what you’d like deleted.
